Little Eeden Farm & Apiary | Using gas for smooth business operations

Our State on a Plate focuses on quality WA produce and how it is sourced, cooked and served in local eateries around WA.

In partnership with Our State on a Plate, we hit the road to meet some of our business customers and primary producers to learn more about our homegrown goodness and how best to enjoy it.

Exploring more of WA, while learning about the value of fresh, local produce

More West Aussies are travelling around WA and ‘rediscovering’ favourite or new destinations.

The Chittering Valley, whilst close to Perth (70km north east) is still relatively under-discovered and under-rated.

The area is varied with undulating farmland, orchards, wineries, walking trails, wildflowers in spring and unique businesses that compliment a day trip and are slowly opening the area up to more tourism visitation.

Across Australia we are becoming more aware of protecting our environment, wildlife and local produce.

Supporting local and learning about the providence of our produce has become a valuable part of dining experiences as well as in grocery stores. We want to know more about where and how it’s made, who makes it and what the nutritional and even medicinal value is.

Bees are an important part of our eco-system and more attention is being placed on the value of bees in nature as part of pollination as well as in the production of honey.

With bountiful fresh produce grown in the area, the Chittering Valley provides an ideal habitat for bees, and base for a bee apiary.

Little Eeden Farm, Honey and Apiary

Little Eeden Farm produces honey and honeycomb from their on-site apiaries, but they also have a variety of farm animals on site and a café so visitors can stop for a meal, enjoy the surroundings and learn about the honey making process and the apiary.

Location is the absolute key to producing different types of honey, and the Chittering Valley is home to over 160 different native flora including wildflowers that contribute to beautiful wildflower honey Little Eeden produces.

Apart from their natural, unprocessed bush honeys, they produce chilli, ginger and garlic honeys, as well as honeymalade, and bee tea from natural ingredients that support health and wellbeing.

Their on-site shop Little Eeden Honey Shop sells their produce and products and they have a variety of stockists as well, while the café The hive @ Little Eeden offers a simple, but wholesome and affordable menu.

Whether it’s in the Perth metro area or across regional WA – there’s never been a better chance to get behind the local businesses who also call WA home.
