As part of our long-term sustainability plan, Kleenheat is enabling our natural gas customers to make their natural gas usage 100% carbon neutral. Learn more about our carbon offsetting program.

Opting in to go carbon neutral on household natural gas.

The majority of our natural gas residential customers are in the Perth metropolitan area, but our reach does extend to Geraldton in the north, east to the Perth Hills, and south to Busselton.

Opting into our carbon neutral natural gas offer, is available to our residential natural gas customers, across our three natural gas plans; the Monthly Energiser, Monthly Smart Saver, and Standard Form Contract.

If you use LPG (gas cylinders), we’re working on extending carbon offsetting to Kleenheat LPG customers as soon as possible. Our Help Centre video assists in demonstrating how to sign up with Kleenheat and opt-in to offset at the same time.

How does carbon offsetting work with billing?

When you choose to opt-in to offset your carbon emissions, your next bill will include a carbon offset contribution. These contributions are based on your household’s consumption of natural gas.

Your units of natural gas consumption will be multiplied by a unit price, which is set by Kleenheat and is based on the cost of acquiring offset units.

The unit price may fluctuate over time, due to the availability of carbon offsets for purchase.

Once you’ve opted in, your carbon offset contribution will be applied to the whole billing period, meaning your natural gas usage will be carbon neutral for the whole period. If you choose to opt-out between billing periods, your offset contribution will stop the day you opt out, and your following bill will not feature any carbon contribution charges, except in the case of a prior period adjustment.

Opting-out of being carbon neutral.

Kleenheat customers can choose to opt-out from carbon offsetting at any time. To opt-out, log in to My Account and deselect the opt-in option.  

If you do opt-out of the carbon offset contribution, you can opt back in at any time by following the steps above.
