Known as one of the world’s queens of cabaret, Bernie Dieter has become an audience favourite at Perth’s FRINGE WORLD.

This year, the Berlin native has brought her show Club Kabarett to FRINGE WORLD. Rated ‘Very Hot’ on the Kleenheat Sizzle Factor, the show has previously wowed Sydney and Melbourne’s Fringe audiences and delighted Londoners during a three-month residency on London’s West End. 

In Perth, the show is playing at Fringe’s impressive new L’Euro Grande theatre within Northbridge’s European Foods Warehouse. Doors to the warehouse-turned-cabaret theatre open at 8:30 pm each night, giving audience members the chance to get a drink from the bar, find a seat, and listen to the haus band before the show kicks off at 8:50 pm.

Dieter is known for her world-class cabaret performances and doesn’t disappoint in Club Kabarett. At the top of the show, she effectively warms the crowd up with a powerful rendition of The Beatle’s ‘Come Together’ before plunging into the audience to get up close and personal with a few select members of the crowd. 

When she returns to the stage, she becomes the show’s emcee, introducing audience members to the weird and wonderful ‘punks, freaks, and weirdos’ she’s pulled from the ‘underground clubs of Europe’ to make up the evening’s entertainment. She joins her band in providing the musical accompaniment for these artists as they perform a dazzling series of aerial and sideshow acts such as fire-breathing, gravity-defying aerial spectacles, burlesque, pole dancing, and contortion. 

Dieter’s show is the epitome of a FRINGE WORLD show, and well worth a visit for those looking for something to see at this year’s full-flavoured festival.
