Bringing back the Mo

It’s 5pm on day five of November and as I look around the office I see more than just 5 o’clock shadows.  It’s the only month of the year where guys are excused for sporting an unkempt upper lip; this can only mean one thing… Movember is back!

The Movember movement was born out of Melbourne and has since grown to be a global phenomenon raising over $580 million and funding over 800 programs world-wide.  So what is Movember?  Movember is a chance for Mo-Bros and Mo-Sistas to raise awareness and much needed funds for a number of health risks which men face, in particular male mental health, prostate and testicular cancers.  More importantly, Movember is a fun and unique way to give men the confidence to talk about their health and bring about change.Chris Blade

Kleenheat Gas is once again participating in this worthy cause.  One Mo Bro who we will be checking up on throughout the month is Chris Blade.  Chris joined Kleenheat Gas in April 2013 as a SME Sales Representative for natural gas.  Chris has thrown away the razor for a  second year and joined the ranks of fellow Mo Bro’s once again, as he believes it is a fun and easy way to raise awareness for men’s health.  The only downfall of the Mo is that it can become quite itchy as it is growing, and after a couple of weeks completely transforms Chris’s look to be… well I will let you decide in a couple of weeks.  One word of advice from our Mo-Bro champion this year on growing the perfect hairy ribbon; is to just stick with it.                                                                                                                                                    Dean and Nino

Our Mo-Bro’s at the Melbourne office are also getting in on the action, with a number of the guys well on their way to donning the Ron Burgundy look.  For those folic-ally challenged in the region or simply not willing to part with their beloved Gillette, getting involved doesn’t just mean you need a hairy lip.  One employee doing something different this year for Movember is Allan Chapman.  Allan has agreed to chop off 1mm of his luscious locks for every $5 donated.  At a current length of 365mm, the Melbourne team are already charging the clippers in anticipation for a buzz cut and a more aerodynamic Allan.

Movember has so far inspired more than 4 million Mo-Bros and Mo-Sistas to participate.  To find out more or to get involved visit http://au.movember.com/
