What is carbon offsetting?

Carbon offset units are used to compensate for residual greenhouse gas emissions where an organisation may not be able to reduce its direct emissions. 

How do you determine my greenhouse gas emissions?

We determine your greenhouse gas emissions using the calculation set out in our Basis of Preparation for a Carbon Offset Natural Gas Product document. We have engaged an independent assurance provider to provide limited assurance services regarding the emissions intensity of sold residential natural gas, as disclosed in the Basis of Preparation.

How much does it cost?

Carbon offset contributions are based on your household consumption of natural gas.

Your units of consumption will be multiplied by a unit price, which is set by Kleenheat and based on the cost of acquiring carbon offset units.

Can I change my mind?

Yes, you can choose to opt-in or out of your carbon offset contribution at any time by calling 13 21 80 or online via My Account.

Opting out works immediately and will be applied to the entire billing period, so you won’t be charged a carbon offset contribution on your next bill.
