How are gas usage tariffs set?
The Western Australian government sets and regulates the standard gas tariffs for natural gas supply across the Perth metropolitan region, and most of the state. These standard gas tariffs are the maximum prices WA natural gas retailers, like Kleenheat, can charge customers for the gas usage and supply charges on their bills.
The government reviews these standard tariffs annually, with any changes typically coming into effect from 1 July each year. We'll always let you know when about any changes to these tariffs before they happen.
When you receive a discount on your natural gas supply through Kleenheat (such as a pay-on-time discount or discount on a monthly instalment plan), this discount is applied to the standard gas usage charge.
You can view the current standard tariffs here and learn about The Energy Coordination (Gas Tariffs) Regulations 2000 here.
Business customers
For business customers, the gas price is determined through negotiation with Kleenheat and specified in your plan. You also have the option to sign up for the Standard Form Contract at the regulated price.
