How to check to see if your bottle has gas:

  • Boil water in a kettle and allow to cool slightly
  • Ensure cylinder valve is turned to the off position
  • Gently pour the kettle water down the side of your cylinder
  • Carefully feel the cylinder from the bottom up. The steel will feel cooler below the gas level and warmer above it.
  • The level of gas inside the cylinder is at the point where the temperature changes

If your cylinder is empty here’s where can you exchange it for a Kwik Gas bottle:

  • Bunnings Warehouse
  • Coles Express
  • BP
  • Selected independent service stations
  • OR use our Kwik Gas locator
  • You can also purchase a new Kwik Gas bottle from these outlets
  • Handy Tip: The safety plug on Kwik Gas cylinders unscrews clockwise

In order to swap your cylinder for a Kwik Gas cylinder it must meet the following standard:

  • Has a foot ring (pictured above)
  • Has a neck ring (pictured above)
  • Meet Australian standards AS 2337.1
  • Be in good condition, slight surface rust is acceptable
  • Has POL valve, incorporating a pressure relief valve which allows for the safe ventilation of gas in the event of a pressure build up inside the cylinder (pictured above)

When using cylinders on the road please ensure you are aware of the following safety tips:

  • Always have your valve switched to the off position when not using the cylinder
  • Store your cylinder upright and outdoors in a well ventilated area
  • Check for leaks by applying soapy water solution to the valve, regulator and hose assembly
  • If bubbles form you may have a leak
  • If there is a leak keep bottle away from flames and sparks and turn valve to the off position.
  • Isolate leaking cylinder and hose down with water.
  • Call Kwik Gas for further advice on 13 21 80
