Life has a habit of getting a little hectic at times, so among the stresses and strains of home and work it’s nice to have somewhere to put everything aside, relax and recharge.
Since opening its doors in 2012, Yoga Tree Perth Victoria Park has been providing the perfect environment for people of all ages to escape the everyday hustle and bustle and concentrate on growing a healthy body, quiet mind and vibrant spirit.
Starting out as a hot yoga studio, the business has expanded to introduce a range of yoga and meditation classes and workshops – led by a team of experienced instructors – aimed at delivering variety and choice for students.
It’s a space where individuals can balance their mind and body while connecting with a diverse Yoga Tree community including 10 – 75-year-olds, males and females, long-time students and new arrivals.
Owner and instructor Hannah Gillette began her yoga journey in 2009 when she participated in her first 90-minute Bikram class, immediately struck by its challenges and rewards.
Inspired by the experience, she decided to make yoga a way of life and headed to the United States to complete her yoga teacher training in 2011. Since then she’s never looked back.
“There’s always something to work on. Each class presents different challenges; whether it’s improving posture, maintaining a still mind or trying to stay in the moment,” she said.
Whether you’re keen to exercise your body or mind, there’s a suitable class available:
Turn up the heat with a sequence of 26 yoga postures and two breathing exercises in a 40-degree studio. The heated room warms muscles and joints, helping prevent injury, while increased sweat levels aim to detoxify and cleanse the body.
Hot Flow Vinyasa
Take a journey of self-discovery that builds muscular strength, improves functional flexibility and agility whilst improving cardiovascular activity and fat burning.
Core + Hot Pilates
Upbeat classes blend traditional mat exercises with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and weight work to strengthen your core and tone your body in a thermo-controlled room.
Focus on deep stretching with 1-5 minute holds and slower movements, primarily from the floor. Yin yoga targets deep connective tissue to ease joint and ligament stress, emphasising the hips, sacrum and spine.
Meditation is effective in short-term stress reduction and long-term health. Slow your heart rate and breathing and concentrate on relaxation and contentment within yourself.
