#lovewinter Competition: Meet Week 3’s Winner

Originally from South Africa, Bob and his family first moved to Perth many moons ago, settling in Kallaroo, Western Australia. Not long after he was introduced to dryland dog sledding and has since been addicted to the sport. Mushing with a scooter and a team of his beloved dogs, some huskies, there’s no denying Bob’s enthusiasm and unconditional love for the sport and his dogs.

Dryland dog sledding may be barely known in Australia, let alone WA. But every year for the last 12 years, Bob partakes in two races at Gnangara Pines and another two in the country. This brings us to his winning picture which he entered for the #lovewinter competition.

The sport only takes place during the colder months of winter and starts in the wee hours of the morning. In this picture, it was four degrees! But it’s perfect for the dogs as they don’t overheat because of the cool air.

Upon receiving an email from us about the #lovewinter competition, it was fitting to enter this picture which captured the best thing he loved about winter; something he forward to every year.

Over the years, Bob and his family have fostered and owned many dogs, mainly huskies, but are currently parents to rescue dogs; 7-year-old Bear (the white husky), 4-year-old Santana and 16-year-old Spike. Naturally, Bob doesn’t have a favourite.

Winning a year’s worth of free gas means a lot to retirees Bob and his wife to help reduce their household costs and make life that much more easier to enjoy.

There are still 12 chances left to win our weekly prize and go into the major draw to win your household utility bills paid for a year. That means, we’ll be paying for your bills such as your internet, water, electricity and gas for 12 months!

You’ve got to be in it to win it and it couldn’t be easier. Simply upload a photo of what you love about winter for a chance to win! Visit lovewinter.com.au.
