Community Grants bring a helping hand to communities across the NT

Our grants program is supporting local groups and organisations doing great things in communities across the Northern Territory and Regional WA.

So far, our $1,000 grants have been making a difference to community initiatives across categories that focus on diversity, community engagement, health and wellbeing, youth-based educational experiences and healthy environment initiatives.Community Grants NT

Our most recent round of Community Grants saw five Northern Territory-based applicants, receive a grant donation of $1,000 each, to help them continue their great work.

Local people, local groups, local communities.

Connected Communities – bringing communities together through activities and events that everyone can participate in.

Who: Childbirth Education Association Inc., Alice Springs.

What do they do?: Birth and Beyond Parent Resource Centre is a community-based organisation dedicated to providing quality support, education and resources for pregnancy, birth, and early stages of parenting to families in Alice Springs.

How the organisation plans to spend their grant: It will provide free parenting workshops for families in Alice Springs, on all thing’s pregnancy, birth, and parenting to encourage confidence and wellbeing in early childhood parenting.Community Grants NT

Inspiring Bright Minds – Helping our big-thinkers turn bright ideas into positive change.

Who: The Darwin City Brass Band Association Inc., Darwin

What do they do?: The Darwin City Brass Band, engages the community through musical experiences and education in the brass music genre. The band provides entertainment and the opportunity for community members to participate, from raw beginner to experienced musician.

How the organisation plans to spend their grant: It will provide community access to loaned musical instruments as well as free tuition in the brass music genre, reducing barriers for participation and allowing more participants to engage in music learning programs.

Cultural Diversity – Understanding and celebrating the diversity and culture that enriches our community.

Who: Multilingual Broadcasting Council NT (MBCNT) Inc., Darwin

What do they do?: The MBCNT is a peak multilingual broadcasting organisation that produces programs in different languages for the local ethnic community.Community Grants NT

How the organisation plans to spend their grant: It will provide broadcaster training allowing for the delivery of vital programs, such as the local community news, in multiple languages. This will promote culture, language, traditions, and community harmony.

Health and Wellbeing – Championing the many benefits of a healthy mind and body.

Who: Sabrinasreach4life, Darwin

What do they do?: Sabrinasreach4life are a team of volunteers providing support services in mental health and suicide prevention. Many of the team have experienced mental health related challenges which allows them to connect with their clients and community.Community Grants NT

How the organisation plans to spend their grant: The team will purchase resource materials, and aids for group discussions, such as their regular suicide prevention and bereavement support group. It will also assist with raising awareness of their services.

Who: Darwin Waterfront Warriors Paddling Club Inc., Darwin.

What do they do?: The club caters to senior Territorians looking to meet new people, improve wellbeing and maintain an active lifestyle, with an ongoing sense of competitive camaraderie.

How the organisation plans to spend their grant: It will contribute to ongoing maintenance of their dragon boat that the team can’t do themselves, including hull maintenance.
