Health and Safety
Kleenheat Gas is committed to providing customers with a reliable and safe LPG supply at all times. Like any fuel, LPG can be dangerous if not handled correctly, so please be aware of the following safety tips to ensure a continued trouble-free and safe supply.
- LPG in its natural form is odourless. Odour is added in the production process to assist in the detection of leaks.
- LPG is heavier than air and any leak will flow to the lowest area.
- LPG is highly flammable. In the event of a gas leak, it is important to be aware of and prevent sources of ignition. If you are not able to stop the leak quickly, evacuate the area immediately and contact the appropriate authorities for assistance.
- When checking for gas leaks, place soapy water over the cylinder valve and joints. If there is a leak, bubbles will be created.
- When LPG burns, it consumes oxygen from the air and produces carbon dioxide and other combustion products. Therefore, all appliances must have adequate ventilation (e.g. a flue). If you are a new LPG customer, a licensed installer can advise you of ventilation requirements.
- If you use LPG from a reticulated supply, be aware of where your gas main piping runs so it can be avoided during excavation activities.
