Kleenheat Gas

Auto Gas

What is AutoGas?

Kleenheat AutoGas is an alternative automotive fuel that offers financial and environmental benefits.

Autogas is the commonly used name for automotive liquefied petroleum gas. It is composed mainly of propane or a mixture of propane and butane.

Kleenheat Gas sells LPG as an automotive fuel through a network of service stations across Australia. AutoGas is economical, has environmental advantages compared to petrol and diesel, and can be used in both dual fuel and dedicated LPG vehicles.

Over 500,000 private and commercial vehicles are now reaping the rewards of running on autogas.

Why is AutoGas better?

  • Engine life is improved by AutoGas’ clean burning characteristics
  • Autogas produces significantly less greenhouse gas and other harmful emissions associated with vehicle fuel consumption
  • Autogas is non-corrosive, non-toxic and lead free
  • Autogas is more economical than other fuels

An autogas conversion can potentially increase the re-sale value of your vehicle. So, while you may quickly recoup the cost of the conversion just through your annual autogas consumption and the government grants currently on offer, it is possible for you to benefit from any appreciated resale value of your vehicle.

Autogas suits almost all types of vehicles, but is particularly beneficial in the following applications:

  • Family cars
  • Commercial and fleet vehicles
  • Couriers
  • Taxis
  • Forklifts
  • Mobile roadsweepers
  • Power generation and pumping engines
  • Industrial engines

Converting to AutoGas

Vehicles can be fitted with a dual LPG/petrol fuel system or an autogas only engine.

There are three generations of autogas systems available in the Australian market including mixer, vapour injection and liquid injection. The product you will install will be determined by the type of motor vehicle being converted. In Western Australia, Kleenheat recommends you contact your nearest Kleenheat approved installer to find out which system will suit your vehicle. Find your nearest Kleenheat approved installer.

Refer to the Kleenheat autogas calculator to calculate your potential savings by switching to autogas.

Vehicle owners in states other than Western Australia should visit www.lpgautogas.com.au.

Autogas conversion is a specialised task. Installers are required to be fully qualified technicians who are committed to carrying out their business in line with LPG Australia's installer code of practice.
